This Week's Eats with Walmart's Grocery Pickup
Who’s into “working smarter, not harder?” (ALL HANDS RAISED)
After so much traveling for the past month, we have been fully reliant on Walmart’s Online Grocery Pickup. It’s so convenient and easy- you just download the Walmart app, place the order on your phone, drive to the location at the specified time (that you get to choose!), and someone loads it into your car for you! And grocery shopping for the week is completed in 10-15 minutes. BLESS.
Did you also know that there is NO additional fee for orders over $30 and that they will substitute items of equal or lesser value at no additional cost to you if something is out of stock? This has truly saved my hide so many times! As someone with a zillion food allergies, eating out every day just isn’t a viable option, but there are weeks when things are just too crazy to have the energy for a long trip to the grocery store.
Big bonus for you my friends: you can get $10 off your first order of $50 or more with Walmart’s Grocery Pickup with the code M2A3DZ3F.
Let’s take a little peek at some of the things I grabbed this week because I’m REAL excited about it!
I was feeling all inspired by The Pioneer Woman this weekend and couldn’t wait to try some of her recipes at home! I decided to try and re-create that INCREDIBLE Dr. Pepper Pulled Pork we had over the weekend. This will make enough to last us all week in tacos, on sandwiches, by itself, etc.
The first thing I needed to make this happen was a Dutch Oven. I don’t own any oven-safe pots (with the exception of one cast iron skillet) and have been wanting one of these for years. I nearly pulled the trigger on one recently that was over $100 because I’ve wanted one for so long and knew I’d use it a lot- especially with fall/winter coming up!
I’m SO glad I didn’t though because I snagged this one for only $39! It’s super heavy, great quality, and I love the red color! Pioneer Woman also has one at Walmart that’s a little smaller but only $19 too if you’re interested in that one- it’s really pretty!
Pioneer Woman’s recipe calls for the pork to be cooked in two cans of Dr. Pepper, chipotle peppers, and one yellow onion so it was pretty simple to put together!
I wanted to have the option to make some pulled pork sandwiches throughout the week too, and let me tell you the honest truth for all of my gluten-free friends… I’ve tried just about every brand of gluten-free bread there is, and this one is THE. BEST.
It’s super moist, doesn’t fall apart while you’re eating it, and doesn’t need to be frozen! If you’ve been part of the GF community for a while, you know how hard that is to find! It also comes in a typical white bread too.
This is another find I was super excited about! I knew I wanted to make a coleslaw to go with the pulled pork, but that can be tough to do with a dairy allergy. Lo and behold, Walmart had this big jar of EGG-FREE, DAIRY-FREE Mayo! I’ve actually never noticed this brand before, but I can’t wait to try it and have already thought of a ton of other recipes I could use it in!
The coleslaw mix I grabbed is a “superblend” as well and includes kale so I think this will overall be a healthier option than your typical coleslaw!
Couldn’t leave these bad boys out because MY LANDS have you ever seen a larger jar of pickles?! This is what my husband’s dreams are made out of, and you won’t even believe me when I tell you he will eat this ENTIRE JAR in a week’s time. The man loves pickles. Haha!
I’m so excited to get cooking on this yummy dinner and am so grateful I still have the energy to cook since I didn’t have to wade through the grocery store for hours this afternoon! If you haven’t tried out Walmart’s Grocery Pickup yet, I hope you give it a go this week! Don’t forget code M2A3DZ3F for $10 off your first order!
